Match Report - Under 11 Rosebowl Cup 20 overs a side - 14th June 2004
Basingstoke v Lymington

Basingstoke Under 11 (98) lost to Lymington Under 11 by 22 runs (120 for 3)

Lymington CC Under 11's defeated Basingstoke in the 2nd round of the Hampshire Under 11 Rosebowl Cup by 22 runs at Basingstoke. After the long journey transported by some kind parents the young Lymington team led by Aidan Lindsay-Wood won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Jamie Gossage (17) and Jonny Young (26 not out) gave Lymington a great start taking the score to 55 off 11 overs before Jonny retired. Aidan Lindsay-Wood then came in and batting very well he hit 5 fours before he retired on 25. Charlie Kinsella (17 not out) with some lofted drives kept the score ticking along and although Matt Vokes(4) and Shane Devlin(2) lost their wickets in the pursuit of runs Lymington were 120 for 3 after 20 overs.

In reply Basingstoke were soon in trouble to the opening attack of Aidan Linday-Wood ( 4 overs 3 for 7) and Charlie Kinsella ( 2 overs 0 for 4). The introduction of Shane Devlin (3 overs 1 for 15) and Cameron McKean( 4 overs 3 for 18) kept the wickets tumbling but a late order recovery by Basingstoke put them in with a chance of victory urged on by their vociferous parents. However Matt Bramwell (2overs 1 for 3) and Jamie Gossage (3 overs 2 for 3) stemmed the flow of runs with Adam Welch taking an excellent catch. Jamie Gossage was left to bowl the last over and he duly dismissed the last 2 batsmen with Basingtoke finishing on 98 all out.

It was a very good all round performance by all the Lymington youngsters well led by their enthusiastic captain.
