Match Report - Under 11a - 4th July 2004
Romsey v Lymington

Side Batting First: OT & Romsey 245-6
Side Batting Second: Lymington U11A 289-3

Lymington travelled to Romsey on another miserable Sunday morning, won the toss, and elected to field first. The first 4 overs were very tight with two sharp run outs adding to good straight bowling. Romsey began to steadily accumulate runs, but the slow accurate bowling of J Gossage 2 - 16 and S Devlin 3 - 12 restricted Romsey to 245 - 6 at the end of there 16 overs.

In reply Lymington openers J Young (14) and C McKean (6) made a very positive start. 2nd pair M Vokes (13) and T Breach (8) progressed the total to 234 at the halfway stage, they achieved this by some quite risky running between the wickets, which on another day may have led to numerous run outs! Third pairing of J Gossage (6) and O Wiltshire (on debut) batted without any risks effortlessly guiding Lymington past the Romsey score. With the pressure now off the final pairing of S Devlin (3) and A Lindsay Wood (28) added 41 runs off the final 4 overs. A Lindsay Wood even managed to rise to the challenge of hitting a six, but not a conventional six, a glorious cover drive for 2 followed by 4 overthrows!
