Match Report - Hants Regional Div 2SW - 24th July 2004
Eastleigh & Otterbourne v Lymington III

Lymington 3rd X1-122
Eastleigh & Otterbourne 103

Lymington recorded their third consecutive victory by defeating fellow strugglers Eastleigh by 19 runs in an exciting match. The poor wicket did not help either team as the ball was prone to either pop up or shoot underground. Batting first  Lymington ground their way to 122 with only John McGuirk 15 and Jamie Cole 18 showing any support for Captain Holt. Jerry scored 34 before an unplayable shooter bowled him neck and crop. The innings had started brightly with 30 on the board inside four overs but this proved to be a false dawn as good bowling kept the score down to 122 which was well short of the game plan of 150. However Chris Noble applied the brakes and his uncanny accuracy restricted the opposition to the occassional run and took 3-10 in his twelve overs. With the help of Alex Treagus 3-32 and Chris Nutt 2-1 Eastleigh were always on the back foot and despite a brave couple of innings they finished 19 runs short of victory. Two more victories should help to safeguard our position in this league.
