Side Batting First: Lymington Over-40's 304 for 1
Side Batting Second: XL Club 263 for 7

Lymington's promising Colt's policy was put on the back burner as the elder
statesmen of the club endeavoured to roll back the years in this Over-40's
fixture. If any of the XL Club were feeling their age before taking to the
field, they certainly were 41 overs later after they had extracted only one
wicket at the fairly hefty price of 304 runs. The only wicket to fall was
that of Jerry Holt (60) shortly after the hundred partnership had been
posted. The last 19 overs saw an average of more than 10 runs an over as
Dave Griffiths (124no) and Mark Jackson (99no) kept up the onslaught. Despite a quick early response from N Dugdale (36) and Luigi Di Maria (41),
the introduction of Tim Hunter (2-35) soothed any fears of such an imposing
total being overhauled. Despite mid-order resistance from Steve Coltman (46)
and J Davies (65), Roy Bennett (2-40) took wickets near the end saw the
visiting Over-40's ironically falling just over 40 runs short.
