Match Report - Hants Regional Div 3SW - 29th May 2004
BAT v Lymington IV

Side Batting First: BAT 199 for 4
Side Batting Second: Lymington 130 for 7 (Target: 185)

Lymington were forced to spend a long – and for the most part fruitless afternoon in the field as the BAT openers progressed largely untroubled until Nick Jenkin (50) was dismissed in the 28th over by Ali Iles (2-24). The next wicket had an element of farce to it as Mark Daniels was prematurely applauded by his team-mates for bringing up his half-century only for the umpire to signal leg-bye. When he next took strike a wild blow was excellently caught at deep cover by Ronnie Hawker, who was later to pick up the wicket of P Biddlecombe (55) but not until after wrecking further havoc on the bowling.

One wicket down in the first over was not an ideal start, and despite Luigi Di Maria's efforts at the top of the order (38), Barnes (2-25) and J Major (2-31) shared the first four wickets between them. Any lingering doubts were removed by A White (3-18) who took three wickets in an over, all of them for ducks. Reduced to such a low ebb, Lymington had only the meagre pleasure of chasing as many batting points as possible through Bob Iles (37no) and Stuart Beveridge (17no).

BEST OF THE WEEK:
N Jenkin (BAT) 50
P Biddlecombe (BAT) 55
