Match Report - Hants Regional Div 3SW - 12th June 2004
Brangore v Lymington IV by Mark Gannaway

Side Batting First: Lymington 101
Side Batting Second: Bransgore 102 for 3

Just fifteen overs into this match and players were speculating on the lowest ever fourth team score, and making plans to watch the opening ceremony of Euro 2004. The circumstances that led to such cogitation were stark – 15 for 6, with just five scoring shots. Extras (26) were becoming the hot favourites to top score, but Luigi Di Maria had other ideas. A sixty run partnership began to restore some credibility, although not severely denting N Dunning's figures (5-20). In the circumstances, Di Maria's maiden league fifty could not have been better timed, although there were some nervous moments, as the last man had to see off a number of balls, before Di Maria (54) could reach his personal landmark.

Not content with being the only batsman to make double figures, Di Maria then proceeded to take all three wickets to fall. Defending such a small score was always likely to be difficult, but Bransgore themselves were low on batting confidence after previous defeats. Without the necessary shards of good fortune to aid their cause, Lymington could not prevent a comfortable victory for their visitors.

BEST OF THE WEEK: L Di Maria (Lymington) 54
