On a dull cold evening at the Sports Ground Calmore batted first and lost an early wicket to Lymington's Hampshire Under 16 bowler Lloyd Scott ( 4 overs 1 for 21) who opened the bowling with Australian Peter Smith ( 4 overs 0 for 23). Christian Pain (4 overs 1 for 25) returning for his second spell bowled Paul Cass (25) with his first ball just after Peter Clark (27) was brilliantly caught on the long on boundary by Bryn Darbyshire off the bowling of Tom Myatt ( 3 overs 1 for 25). With Trevor Phillips (3 overs 0 for 23) bowling a tight line at the finish, Calmore were restricted to 129 for 5 in their 18 overs.
In reply the Lymington openers Bryn Darbyshire (77 not out) and Peter Smith (28) set about the Calmore bowlers before the latter was out in the 7th over with the score on 84. Mark Burrett and Martin Hunt perished but Matt Molloy (8 not out) joined Bryn Darbyshire to take the score to 131 for 3 and pass the Calmore score in the 16th over. Bryn's total of 77 undefeated off 49 balls included 3 sixes and 4 fours, a welcome return for him to Lymington CC where he played his colts cricket.
In the semi final Lymington will play either New Milton or holders Bashley away on Monday 20th June. The final is at Langley Manor on Friday 8th July.
