Match Report - First XI - 18th June 05
Lymington v Rowledge
Southern Electric Premier Cricket League Division 2

Rowledge 237 for 7 v Lymington 115ao

Lymington last wicket stand almost gains batting point
On a glorious afternoon at the Sports Ground which looked its gold standard Premier League accreditation, Lymington skipper Adie Hunt lost the toss and had to field. Opening bowlers Peter Smith and Tom Myatt ( 12 overs 0 for 53) kept the batsmen tied down and made the first breakthrough in the 9th over when the former captured 2 wickets in 3 balls. Even though Lloyd Scott (12 overs 1 for 47) and Trevor Phillips (11 overs 1 for 55) bowled tightly the Rowledge batsmen kept the score ticking along and the third wicket did not fall until the 39th over with the score at 176. Martin Hunt (4 overs 0 for 21) and young Sam Westcott (2 overs 0 for 12) were unable to take wickets and with the return of Peter Smith (12 overs 4 for 36) the runs were pegged back and Rowledge finished on 237 for 7 after 50 overs.

Brothers Martin and Adie Hunt opening for the first time in the Premier League unfortunately were not together too long when Adie (1) was dismissed quickly followed by Neil Trestrail and Peter Smith neither troubling the scorers. Top scorer last week Bryn Darbyshire (4) also soon followed and at 36 for 5 in the 18th over a low score was on the cards but Martin Hunt (21) was still there however he lost his patience and was caught trying a big hit. Only a last wicket stand of 41 in 8 overs by Ed Molloy (27 not out) and Lloyd Scott (10) who both batted sensibly with Ed hitting a huge 6, took the final score to 115 just 10 runs short of a batting point with 11 overs remaining.
