Peter Tapper captain for the day lost the toss & Hursley Park decided to bat
Hursley Park made a good start & having scored 345 the previous week, it looked like a repeat was possible. However good fielding, catching & attitude in the field brought its reward in restricting the score to a still formidable 266 for 9 at the end of 48 overs.
The opening bowlers Martin Gregory 12 overs 3 wickets for 61 runs & Dominic Norton 12 overs 5 wickets for 51 both deserving credit.
In reply the opening pair of Simon King (37) + Simon Naylor (11) made a steady start & took the score to 51 for the first wicket. A partnership of 113 between Peter Tapper (56) & Dave Griffiths (49) helped the cause but loosing both in consecutive balls proved decisive, when needing 95 from the last 10 overs. Quick runs from James Lowe (16) retired hurt, Craig Tapper (13), Dominic Norton (13 not out) & Martin Gregory (7) left the score at 228 for 7 at the end of 48 overs.
Result a 38 run defeat.
