Match Report - Under 11a- 29th May 05
Bashley v Lymington
New Forest Colts Cricket Association League

Lymington U11a 237 Bashley U11a 244

Lymington's brave effort bashed by Bates
Bashley won the toss and inserted Lymington on a good wicket. Bashley's tight bowling kept the Lymington batsmen on the defensive with only Ollie Wiltshire(17) with 3 boundaries able to break out. Despite this, Lymington only lost two wickets, one of those to a suicidal second run. Bashley's bowling was backed up by some excellent fielding and restricted Lymington to 237 from their 16 overs. Pick of the Bashley bowlers was Christian Anstee(2-3-1) Ryan Taylor(3-3-0) Johnnie Bettle(3-4-0) and James Rapsom(3-8-0)

Bashley's reply was hampered by the steady loss of wickets, only the arrival of the third pair Charlie Banks(19) and Johnnie Bettle, saw things turn around in Bashley's favour. Banks hit 2 boundaries and it was only stubborn determination that prevented him adding 3 more. Christian Anstee(7) and Ryan Taylor then saw Bashley home. Pick of the Lymington bowlers was Nicky Elliott(2-5-2), Alan Maher(2-7-0), Sophie Gossage(2-9-1) and Adam Drodge(3-15-2) who at such a young age is a name to watch. Ultimately the sides were evenly balanced, it was only Bashley's tighter bowling which carried the day. The match was played in a commendable spirit with both sides receiving generous applause for their efforts throughout the match.
