Lymington 76 All Out versus Alderholt 51 all out
Lymington entertained Alderholt in this delayed cup quarter final at the sports Ground. Alderholt invited Lymington to bat first and wickets tumbled right from the start, with only S Tombs, T Jenvey, and B Rostand all scoring (13) to reach double figures, if it were not for the 22 extras Lymington's final score of 76 would have been much lower. For Alderholt slow spinner N. Smith with the remarkable figures of 6 wickets at the cost of a mere 5 runs inflicted the damage.
Whatever manager Tony Thorp said in between innings quite clearly had the desired effect as Alderholt were left reeling at 24-7 from the first 8 overs. Ben Rostand bowled his fastest spell of bowling of the season claiming 4 - 8 ably supported by A Lyndsay-Wood who claimed 3 - 6. Tim Breach and M Boynton duly mopped up the tailenders leaving Lymington winners by 25 runs, setting up a mouth watering semi -final against arch rivals BAT on Thursday July 28th.
