15 year old Dan Waters thought he was coming along to Presidents Day just to fill in the scorebook, but ended up receiving a superb 15 minute coaching session from Zimbabwean leg spinner Brian Murphy. Promising leggie Dan was given tips on how to improve his action and grip by the Test star who has himself been coached in the past by leg spin guru Terry Jenner.
Dan, who recently finished second in the New Forest Under 15 single-wicket competition, now has the whole winter to practice his art and will hopefully be pushing for a place in the Third XI and perhaps even the Seconds next season. |

Aidan Lindsay-Wood was in inspired form as Lymington Under 13s captured the New Forest Under 13 cup thanks to a 41 run win over Mudeford at Langley Manor yesterday. The Hordle-Walhampton livewire scored an unbeaten 30 in a Lymington total of 138 for 3 before the league champions were restricted to 97 in reply.
Man of the Match - Aidan Lindsay-Wood
Coach Tony Thorp was full of praise for his talented team, but singled out man-of-the-match Aidan for particular mention. "Aidan's innings gave us a great platform to build on," he said. "His fielding was sensational too. One of his stops on the boundary wouldn't have looked out of place in a match on Sky."

A stunning bowling performance from 14 year old Will Thorp guided Lymington Fourth XI Senior team to their first win of the season at Woodside on Saturday. Will grabbed 6 for 31 - including a hat trick - as Lymo overhauled Suttoners' 148 all out to record a morale boosting 5 wicket victory. He also chipped in with the bat, scoring 25 and offering valuable support to Steve Coltman who returned to form with a fine 65. Another youngster with plenty to chirp about at Woodside was 13 year old Aidan Lindsay-Wood who took a wicket with his very first ball in senior cricket!
The following day both Will and Aidan were back playing colts cricket and helped Lymington Under 15s to a narrow victory over local rivals Bashley at the Sports Ground. |
