Lymington 2s 232 for 4 - Petersfield 196 for 7

Bowdler Puts Petersfield To The Sword

Arriving over an hour late, Petersfield won the toss and put Lymington into bat, in a rain reduced 36 overs game. Initially fielding with eight men due to navigational problems, Petersfield were straight on the back foot. Lymington were able to pick off easy singles, Guy Hayward (33) and Matt Bowdler putting on 92 for the second wicket. With a full complement on the pitch, Petersfield battled back, but they could not dislodge the hugely impressive Bowdler. He set about the bowling with ruthless efficiency, and with Simon Naylor (38 no) the partnership put on 100 in the last 9 overs to leave Lymington on 232 for 4. Bowdler finishing with a breathtaking 114 not out.

Matt scored a very fine 114 not out
Simon scored 33 not out

Petersfield never really got going, with Mark Jackson taking a couple of sharp catches to leave them at 38 for 3. Treagus (2 – 47) and Gregory (2 – 44) were supported by good Lymington fielding, and once Murphy was out for 46, Petersfield knew the game was up. Lymington eventually winning the game by 36 runs. The game will long be remembered for Matt Bowdler's superb hundred laying the foundations for an impressive Lymington victory.
