St Cross 231 - Lymo 105ao

Young Lymington Toil

A young Lymington side were taught a lesson in batting by St Cross at the Sports Ground. It was a huge toss to win, and it was no surprise when the opposition skipper elected to bat. At 196 for no wicket in the 29th over, Lymington feared a record run chase. However, a good fight back brought the game back into reach, with the next 10 overs yielding only 35 runs. Dan Walters (2 - 68) Will Thorpe (0-51) and Ed Molloy (1-55) were the pick of the bowling. Lymington started badly, losing early wickets to slump to 20 for 3. A fifty partnership between Simon Naylor (29) and Tom Thorpe (9) briefly threatened to breathe life into the run chase. However, once the partnership was broken at 71, Lymington slumped to 105 all out. Lymington will look towards the continuing development of their young players as they work to steer the side towards safety in County 1 this season.
