A pretty dismal week for Lymington ended on a high note when the Sunday XI notched up an unlikely 5 wicket victory over Calmore at the Sports Ground.
But with 10 overs remaining this match appeared to be meandering towards a tame draw. Chasing Calmore's 239-5, the Lymington innings had been rather cut adrift at 140 for 5 with the opposition bowlers well on top. However, in a vain attempt to winkle out the final few wickets, Calmore opted to serve up some rather tempting fare for batsmen Mark Gannaway and Trevor Phillips, and it was a meal ticket that the Lymo batsmen simply couldn't turn down. In a little over half an hour the match was completely turned on its head as Gannaway (64no) and Phillips (57no) gleefully tucked in and notched up 3 sixes and a host of boundaries. Such was the pair’s domination that Lymington cruised home with a full 2 overs to spare!

| Meg made 63 not out chasing down Calmore's total |
Earlier in the day Berry (79) and Wilson (60) had helped Calmore accelerate to 239 at tea after the visitors had been tied down in the first hour by a tight spell of bowling from the indefatigable Chris James who took 2-39. Lymington's cause was helped by some fine catches by Dan Waters, Ian Sparkes and David Lance, although coach Phillips gave a perfect demonstration of how not to catch a cricket ball by dropping a straightforward chance off Berry who had only scored a few at the time. Lymo's reply had received a good start through Coltman (32), Tapper (51) and Sparkes (17). But all this was just the appetiser for Gannaway and Phillips' main course later in the evening.
