Lymington cruise through to the next round

Lymington U11a 266 Bashley U11b 219.

Lymington entertained Bashley in the U11 cup at the Sports ground, and having won the toss Lymington chose to field first. In the face of very accurate bowling Bashley openers J Corbett and T Boon struggled, finishing their 4 overs with the score on 195. H Dathan and V Childs seemed to have got things moving in the right direction, until first Roberts took 3 wickets in and over, and then Ambrose took another wicket in the next over forcing the Bashley score back to 186. J Scott(21) played some magnificent shots, and ably backed up by J Kay who rotated the strike back to him got Bashley back into the game finishing on 210. The final partnership of S Satchwell(8) and S Lavis pushed the final total up to 219.

Lymingtons wicket takers were A Maher 3-0-9-3, D Cureton 3-1-4-1, J Roberts 2-0-2-3 and F Ambrose 2-1-8-1.

Lymingtons reply got off to a flying start with A Drodge(9) and K Moors(7) combining quick singles and selective hitting to finish their allotted 4 overs overhauling Bashleys total. After a good start the next partnership of J Cartwright and J Quigley decided to copy the opening partnership, unfortunately lacking the understandingand touch of their predecessors, resulting in being run out 3 times. Despite this they still added to the Lymington total. A Maher and F Ambrose then took the score to 235 with only one hiccup, setting the stage for skipper D Cureton(17) and J Roberts(9) to complete the job. Again Roberts played for his partner feeding Cureton the strike and keep the scoreboard ticking.

Bashleys wicket takers were S Satchwell 3-0-18-2, J Corbett, 3-0-13-3 and H Daton 1-0-1-1.

The main difference was bashleys extras 25 and Lymington 1. This again was a pleasure to watch both young sides playing in a good spirit. Lymington now meet Bashley A away in the next round of the cup.
