Lymington outplay BAT.

BAT U11a 248 Lymington U11a 275

Traveling to Southern Gardens to face BAT, Lymington were wary that their coach had yet to record a win against BAT. Lymington were put in to bat, and set about building a total that would test the home side. The usual opening partnership of A Drodge (18) and K Moors pinched singles, and hit the bad ball for boundaries giving a great start with 220 after 4 overs. J Quigley and J Cartwright played steadily advancing the score by another 14 runs. F Ambrose(8) and A Maher(8) kept the scoreboard ticking and pushed the total to 251 after 12. Finally J Roberts (6) and D Cureton (11) scored steadily against very accurate bowling taking the final Lymington total to a challenging 275. The BAT bowlers all bowled well, and Lymington just manoeuvred the ball around waiting for the bad ball, and not getting out to risky shots. L Reeve (3-1-9-1) and L Mooney (3-1-13-1) were the only wicket takers.

In reply BAT found the combination of pace and legspin from Cureton and Cartwright very difficult and only managed 9 runs from their first 4 overs. M Parker(18) and C Galloway picked the tempo up, but a wicket pegged back their efforts to leave BAT on 228 after 8 overs. Skipper L Reeve and N Hurst ran well between the wickets, but still with the continued fall of wickets didn't get full value for their efforts. Needed 33 from the final partnership E Moor and A Clitheroe(16) crashed the ball to all parts, with a 6 and 4 fours, but then getting out 3 times resulted in BAT finishing on 248, 27 runs behind Lymington. J Cartwright (2-0-6-0), D Cureton (3-0-11-1), K Moors (2-0-9-0) F Ambrose (2-0-11-1), A Drodge (2-0-15-2), J Roberts (2-0-8-2) and A Maher (3-0-26-1).

As always Lymington fielded and bowled well. Complimented with steady instead of risky batting and only losing 2 wickets meant BAT were always chasing the game.
