Lymington U11a 297 Langley Manor 210
Lymington to strong for a young Langley Manor
side Traveling to the superb Langley Manor setting Lymington asked Langley to bat, and realised very quickly that Langley wern't in awe at their table topping opponents. D Morriston(10) and
J McLaren(6) woke Lymington up by finishing their 4 overs on 219. This provided the shock to wake Lymington up, and with the introduction of A Maher, and J Roberts things changed. The second pair of B Johns and W Hillman were unable to increase the score from their 4 overs in the face of very accurate bowling. S Hart and R O'Conner found the bowling of F Ambrose and K Moors too much and finished on 207. F Ambrose again proved bowling straight is a key, having been on a hat-trick, and finishing with four wickets. The final pair of T Arnison and R Collis had to struggle hard to prevent being on a minus score, but eventually finished setting Lymington the target of 211 to win. A Maher (2-1-1-1) and J Roberts (2-0-2-0) were the pairing that strangled the Langley batsmen, with K Moors (2-0-9-1) and A Drodge (2-0-8-1) taking a wicket a piece and backed up by sharp fielding, lymington quickly snuffed out a good start by Langley. Pick of the day for his bowling must go to F Ambrose, whose (3-0-5-4) ripped the heart out of Langley.
In reply the Lymington opening partnership of A Drodge(17) and K Moors(14) equaled the Langley total of 210 by the end of the first over. With quick singles and a couple of boundaries their understanding meant Lymington were on 239 after the first 4 overs. D Cureton(10) and J Cartwright(9) continued to assault the bowling, and finished their 4 overs on 263. J Roberts and J Quigley(8) continued, with Roberts being run out by a direct hit, causing a slow down in the flow of runs they finished their 4 overs on 280. The only question was whether Lymington could go past the 300 mark, and although F Ambrose(8) and A Maher did manage it, a fine yorker by D Morriston (3-0-12-1) in the last over prevented that milestone. The other Langley wicket takers were R Collis (2-0-14-1) and R O'conner (2-0-12-1).
