Just two weeks into the new season, and Lymington's U/11 'B' side have already had more success than in the whole of 2005. Although still younger than many of their opponents, the squad has now benefited from last year's experience.
Their first match against Calmore so a total score of 255, with Jack Orman leading the way with 21 runs, whilst Chris Haining (3 wickets), led the way with the ball as the home side were restricted to 220.
Despite this promising start, the side's manager was still in curmudgeonly mood, believing that improvements could still be made. The following week the players proved him right, with a marked improvement in the number of wides bowled. In addition, the fielding was athleticism personified as several potential boundaries were hauled in before the rope. The runs were knocked off in impressive style, with solid knocks from Sonny Winslow (15) and Harry Yates (13).
