Lymington 109 for 7 - Sway 39 for 6
Lymington began the defence of the New Forest Under 13 Cup against Sway at the Sports Ground on a damp and cold Monday evening. Lymington took a while to settle against some good accurate early bowling from Sway. A solid second wicket partnership between A Lindsay-Wood (31 retired) and O Wiltshire (31 Retired) soon settled any nerves and allowed the lower order to throw the bat in pursuit of a large total. The innings closed on 109 for 7 with only J Gossage (12) making any further meaningful contribution.
Sway lost a wicket in the first over to the accurate pace bowling of A Lindsay-Wood and from that point on never threatened the Lymington total. Lymington used the remaining overs to give all the bowlers a good early season workout, the pick of which was young N Elliot taking two wickets for 2 runs from his three overs of accurate offspin. Lymington will host the winners of the New Milton versus Langley Manor fixture in the next round at the Sports Ground.
