Lymington U13b 52 for 9 - Pylewell Park U13a 100 all out
Continued improvement, but still a way to go
Lymington lost the toss and were put into field, where first skipper M Williams and then S Moss struck. From there on Lymington took regular wickets, but conceded runs at nearly 6 an over, and with 31 in extras, it was a just a poor day at the office. Fortunately the fielding was up to scratch, probably preventing another 20+ runs. Four Pylewell batsmen made double figures, yet none really dominated, O Porter(19), S Hoeman (14), Z Piereira (14) and M Truell (10). For Lymington the wicket takers were A Maher (3-0-16-3), S Moss (2-0-17-2), A Welch (2-0-6-2) and a wicket apiece for M Williams, P Newton, and L Ambrose.
In reply Lymington were without their anchorman Drodge, and when the normally reliable J Roberts failed it just left P Newton (16) and M Williams to chase the score. When this failed S Moss (4) dropped anchor and stayed through to the end, while the other end wickets continued to fall. Lymington did manage to survive to the end, but it would be fair to say they have batted better. M Lowe(4) struck the shot of the day with a beautifully timed four to long off, but they had no answer to M Truell (4-2-3-3) and T Lewis (2-0-3-2). T Hoeman, R Urwin, and R Vinning took a wicket apiece.
Lymington are still a finding their way, and the main difference between them and their opposition is partnerships, and although they can stay at the crease, Lymington's batsmen have got to find a way to score more runs.
