For the second time Lymington U9s played Bashley U9s. Only this time Lymington bought a changed team to allow 6 more of their 20+ U9s a game. Lymington won the toss and asked Bashley to bat first. After 4 overs Bashley had reached 206 despite losing 2 wickets to H Chandler (3-0-14-2) The second Bashley pair were out 3 times in their 4 overs with A Drodge (2-0-4-2) and G Yates (2-0-9-1) J Cornwall and S Rose kept Bashley on the back foot, so that after 12 overs Bashley had just 216. T Boon913) and F Meredith(16) ripped into the bowling and set a testing target of 245.
In reply Lymington started steadily putting on 10 runs from their first 4 overs. S Rose and J Harrison carried on the good work, but with G Yates and F Ambrose stalling, only adding one run from their 4 overs it set Lymington skipper J Quigley and A Drodge 23 runs to win. Things looked good as Quigley smashed the ball for 2 fours, and with 2 overs left Lymington just needed 7 runs. Unfortunately Quigley continued to try to smash the ball and was out twice. Maybe he should have looked at his 7 year old partner, and defended the straight balls. For Bashley T Boon was the pick of the bowlers (3-0-4-2) and backed up by H Corbett (1-0-7-1) and T Silva Perez (3-0-9-1) saw Bashley home by 11 runs
