Batting first Lymington found the Wellow attack a real problem losing 4 quick wickets. F Ambrose despite his tender years quickly mastered the attack and but for a problem with identifying him from his brother would have retired on 32. His brother was the next highest with 5 runs. Wickets continued to fall with Lymington all out in the 17th over for 68 runs.
What happened next was described by the Wellow Manager as over confidence. His side lost 3 quick wickets, and but for the sensible batting of D Rides(25) and S Draycott (27no) Lymington would have certainly been in a position to cause a major upset. S Wimslow (4-0-12-2), S Moss (3-0-9-1) F Ambrose (4-1-15-1) and S Lowe (1-0-6-1) were the wicket takers, and although they didn't win, this young Lymington side can certainly hold there heads high after running Wellow into the 17th over before they could secure the win.
