Lymington 188 for 4 v Ashtead (Surrey)
159 for 6
The sun was finally shining at the Sports Ground and the visitors who had travelled down from Surrey for their tour. Lymington won the toss and elected to bat. Captain Sam Tombs (32) and Aidan Lindsay-Wood (52 retired) started briskly and put on 82 in 11 overs before the former was out caught. The latter continued to bat well until he was retired and George Hayward (33) struck the ball well before he was bowled and Charlie Kinsella (23) hit 4 fours before he was stumped as was Josh Thacker (9). Ben Rostand (17 not out) and Ollie Wiltshire (7 not out) took the final score to 188 for 4 after 35 overs.
In reply Ashtead batted slowly against Aidan Lindsay-Wood (3 overs 0 for 4) and Ben Rostand (4 overs 0 for 10) as well as Charlie Kinsella (4 overs 0 for 14). The first wicket fell in the 18th over with the score on 54 well behind the run-rate. George Hayward (4 overs 2 for 10), Nick Elliott (6 overs 1 for 13), Sam Tombs (2 overs 0 for 12) and Josh Thacker (2 overs 1 for 9) took wickets as the run-rate increased and with Kieran Moors ( 3 overs 0 for 12), Jack Roberts (2 overs 0 for 13), Ollie Wiltshire ( 2 overs 0 for 11), Ryan Lewis (2 overs 0 for 16) and Josh Bowring ( 1 over 0 for 8) the Ashtead innings finished on 159 for 6 after 35 overs.
After the league season of 18 over matches it was good to have a longer type of match and it is hoped to have some more before the end of the season which gives the colts more experience in the middle both batting and bowling.
