Match Report - First XI - 9 June 07
Southern Electric Premier Cricket League Division 2

Trojans 163 all out - Lymington 241 for 8

With rain in the air Trojans won the toss and elected to bowl. The Lymington openers Sam Raphael (102) and Bryn Darbyshire(0) were soon parted when the latter with a momentary misjudgment let a straight ball go and was bowled first ball. Adie Hunt(8), Dan Wiggins(0) and Christian Pain(9) departed cheaply and at 81 for 4 at the halfway stage the Lymington top order again left the lower order with a battle to get a good score. Ollie Kelly(19) joined Sam Raphael and they took the score to 136 in the 37th over before he was run out. Young Cameron Grierson (36 not out) then helped the tail to wag and although Sam was run out after hitting a fine 102 with the score on 170 for 7 in the 42nd over. Cameron with a well hit 6 over mid-on, Mark Newton (11) and Trevor Phillips (19 not out) also striking out the final score reached a commendable 241 for 8 off 50 overs.

In reply Trojans openers started well against the Lymington opening bowling attack of Lloyd Scott (5 overs 1 for 29) and Trevor Phillips (6 overs 1 for 24) then Christian Pain (5 overs 0 for 32) replaced the former. At 109 for 2 in the 21st over Trojans were well placed but the introduction of spin Ollie Kelly (10 overs 6 for 38) and Sam Raphael (9.4 overs 2 for 35) changed that as Ollie wreaked havoc with his leg spin. Trojans were all out for 163.

Ollie 6-38
Ollie Kelly 6 wickets for 38

This win with maximum points takes Lymington into 6th place and with a home match against 5th placed Liphook & Ripsley CC next Saturday at the Sports Ground the team are looking to rise even further up the table.

The continuing form of Australian Sam Raphael and the emergence of Cameron Grierson's batting as well as Ollie Kelly's leg spin plus the team's fielding are the bright spots as Captain Adie Hunt and others look to stem their lack of form.
