Match Report - Second XI - 19 May 07
Hampshire Cricket League - County 1
St Cross 2nds (255 for 9) - Lymington 2nds (252 for 7)
St Cross won the toss & on a damp wicket elected to field first.
Lymington made a steady start reaching 54 for the loss of their first wicket. However this soon became 70 for 4, before Dan Rutherford 87 & Dave Griffiths 23 took the score upto 158 for 5. Peter Tapper made a quick 67 & took the total to a very reasonable 252 for 7 off their 48 overs.
Lymington took to the field minus one of their opening bowlers & therefore were greatly restricted in their bowling + fielding options. Therefore by restricting St Cross to getting the winning runs of the penultimate ball with their last pair at the crease was a great effort. The bowling of Dan Rutherford was especially good, his 12 overs cost just 39 runs. However Martin Gregory, Alex Treagus & Peter Tapper all played their part, as did everyone with their fielding.
This result of loosing by 1 wicket on the penultimate balls was the same as last weeks result.
