Match Report - Third XI - 26 May 07
Hampshire Cricket League - South West 3

Side Batting First: Lymington 207 for 8
Side Batting Second: Fawley 141 for 9

Lymington initially made steady progress with Steve Coltman (27) and Jerry Holt looking comfortable until both were dismissed by P Bowlden (3-44). The repair work was undertaken by John McGuirk (47) and Will Naylor (85). Naylor struggled at first, but soon became more fluent and unleashed some fearsome pulls in particular. With Lymington looking to sneak past the 200 barrier wickets were lost, in particular to Alan Sturgess (3-48).

In reply, Fawley got off to a flying start, helped considerably by a bowling attack who struggled to adjust their radar, witnessed by the fact that 23 wides were bowled. The exception to this rule was Luigi Di Maria who although only picking up one wicket was his usual parsimonious self, going for just 16 runs in his 12 overs. With A Ward (33) building an innings things were very much in the balance when drinks were taken. Unfortunately for Fawley, Ward received little support as Tom Hayward (6-34) regularly took wickets at the other end, showing great variation with his off-spin, and eventually guiding Lymington to a comfortable victory.

Will Naylor 85
Tom Hayward 6-34
