Match Report - Under 11a- 4 May 08
New Forest Colts Cricket Association League

Lymington Under 11b 207 - Lymington Under 11a 294.

On a fabulous sunny day at the picturesque woodside ground the two Lymington under 11 sides met for the opening fixture of the season. The A's batted first on the outstanding wicket, again a credit to the council and R Hawker. Facing a much younger attack the openers Moors (7) and Entwistle (2) progressed the score to 214 after their 4 overs, setting the stage for Holland (19) and Chandler (11) to hit the their inexperienced counterparts to all areas in the largest partnership of the match. Illsey (9) and Cornwall (6) continued the good work whilst final the final partnership narrowly of Quigley (11) and Haining (7) failed to make the 300 mark.
O Marshall (3-0-18-1) and Finn Ambrose (3-0-10-1) were the wicket takers, backed up by good tight bowling by the other B's.

Facing the daunting target of 294, and the formidable A's bowling attack O Marshall (10) top scored looking quite at home. K Evans (1) supported well. J Elliott (1) and S Paxton showed a little inexperience, as did F Kinsella and J Morgan. However the ever reliable pairing of F Ambrose (4) and A Drodge (4) saw Lymington B's back into credit.
All the Lymington A's bowled well C Haining (1-1-0-0), J Cornwall (1-0-1-0), and H Illsey (3-0-8-0) all bowled very accurately, whilst J Holland (3-1-8-1), C Moors (3-0-8-1) and H Chandler (2-1-2-1) all took a wicket a piece. W Entwistle was the pick of the bowlers with (3-1-6-3) narrowly missing a hat trick by a whisker.

A powerful display by the U11a's but credit must also go to the U11b's who were mainly made up of the U9 squad (5 in all).
