Lymington won the toss and asked Fawley to bat and they were soon in trouble losing their first wicket by the 4th ball, and the second to an excellent piece of field before the end of the first over. This was to prove a bit set back, made worse when in the fourth over Finn Ambrose produced an all bowled hat-trick. Tight bowling saw Fawley lose wickets steadily despite the efforts of H Hawkins (8), and it wasn't until the last partnership of J Hawkins (5) and A Drodge (9) that Fawley got back into credit finishing on 215.
All the Lymington bowlers showed good lines of bowling, J Elliott (2-1-2-0), F Kinsella (2-0-8-0) and J Doggett (2-0-10-0) stopped the flow of runs, and H Chandler (2-2-0-2), O Marshall (3-0-9-2) and Finn Ambrose (3-1-13-3) proved to be too much for the Fawley batsmen.
The first partnership of F Kinsella (8) and B Howard-Allen (3) put Lymington in front after the 3rd over. J Doggett (3) and H Chandler (10) continued the momentum. J Elliott (14) top scored with G Miller (3) and finally O Marshall (8) and Finn Ambrose (3) finished off a polished batting display.
For the bowling side A Drodge took the only wicket and kept his runs return in single figures, quite an achievement given the batsmen’s determination to hit him out of the attack.
