Pixie spins Lymo to victory
Pylewell Park U15s 78 Lymington U15s 79-2
As always this was a keenly contested local derby, played out in glorious sunshine at Lymington Sports Ground.
Visitors Pylewell Park opted to make first use of a hard and flat pitch, and although Ashby was bowled by George Hayward for just 1, Truell and Loasby then added 40 for the second wicket. The introduction of spinner Nicky 'Pixie' Elliott and seamer Josh Bowring swung the match Lymington's way with Elliott removing Truell for a well-struck 27 courtesy of a fine catch by Josh Dunkley who was playing his very first game of cricket. Bowring then took two wickets in consecutive balls and came within centimetres of claiming a hat-trick in his very first bowling spell at Under 15 level. Zac Smith hit a couple of lusty blows before becoming Elliott's fourth victim thanks to a superb diving catch by Max Williams as Pylewell's innings ended on 78 for 7.
Openers Aidan Lindsay-Wood and Charlie Kinsella were in no mood to hang around as Lymington raced to 50 from just 7 overs. Kinsella (34) struck six boundaries before falling to spinner Truell who then proceeded to clean bowl Josh Thacker just three balls later. However, there was no stopping Lymington who eased home to an 8 wicket victory with just under six overs to spare. Lindsay-Wood, who had earlier conceded just 4 runs from 3 overs, continued his good form with the bat with 26no while Hayward was unbeaten on 12.
