Lymington 252 for 7 - Havant II 131ao

Lymington traveled to Havant full of confidence on the back of their first win the previous week against Hook. After winning the toss captain Adie Hunt had no hesitation in batting first on a very good wicket with a lightning outfield. Openers Ollie Kelly and Dave Griffiths put on 22 before Griffiths departed for 13 after top edging a short ball. Jamie Harvey came into bat at 3 and batted very sensibly with Kelly to ensure that Lymington had wickets in hand for later in the innings. After Kelly was out for 26 Harvey then added 69 with Morgan Rushbrook (26) during which time he completed his maiden southern league and club half century. Harvey soon followed Rushbrook for 51 which led to Craig O'Shannessy coming to the wicket to embark on a hitting spree, in the 15 balls that he faced he scored 41 runs including 4 fours and 3 large sixes. After O'Shannessy's fireworks had finished Christian Pain (33no) continued his good form with the bat and guided the team to a very competitive score of 252 for 7.

Needing to score at 5 an over it was vital that Havant got off to a steady start against Lymington's fearsome opening bowling attack of O'Shannessy and Rushbrook. Unfortunately for the home team they couldn't cope with the pace and accuracy of these 2 and soon fell to 32 for 4 with O'Shannessy taking 3 wickets in his first 5 overs. Walker and Matthews battled hard to guide Havant to 117 for 4 before Tommy Barton produced 3 wickets in 3 overs to end with 3-24 and leave Havant on 131 for 8. It was somewhat fitting that O'Shannessy, when called back into the attack, finished the innings off with his first ball to have splendid figures of 4-14 and lead the team to victory by 121 runs.
