NEW FOREST UNDER 12 179 - SOMERSET UNDER 12 212 for 4

On the best day of the week Lymington sportsground hosted a friendly match between Somerset and New Forest which consisted of five Lymington colts Conor Moors, Joe Quigley, Chris Haining, Hugo Chandler and James Cornwell.

Somerset batted first and the top five batsmen were all county players. Chris Haining took one wicket, Hugo chandler took two in one over and a great catch. All the other Lymington boys fielded well and bowled well. Somerset ended on 212 for 4 off 40 overs. The batsmen all looked class.

New Forest knew they were up against it because they had never scored that many runs. After six overs and 4 wickets down from some good bowling and poor shot selection new forest were struggling. Joe Quigley opened the batting and stayed there till the 39th over and a best new forest and personal score of 106.

New forest lost by 33 runs but considering they had five county players and are used to playing the longer game new forest did well and the five Lymington boys look good for the future.

Thanks goes to Paul the groundsman for preparing the wicket and to all the boys from both sides for keeping off the first team wicket.
