Lymington A's seventh league game of the season was away against Pylewell B.
Lymington A fielded their full strength side and having won the toss elected to bat first. A very different batting order saw a number of batsmen post large scores as Pylewell’s young team of bowlers struggled to keep Lymington in check. An early success was the wicket of A. Drodge who was bowled by J. Smith in the third over but fellow opener J. Cornwell went on to retire at 30 as did both C. Haining with 32 and H. Illsley with 31. H. Chandler also scored 20 before being caught off the bowling of D. Pearce. Wickets continued to fall as Lymington pushed for a large score. The batting onslaught also caused some wayward bowling contributing 38 extras to Lymington’s eventual total of 202 off 18 overs.
Pylewell B's batsmen never really got going. Chasing such a large total, none of the batsmen reached double figures and this flattered the bowling figures for Lymington. C. Moors finished with 5 wickets for 6 runs off three overs, W. Entwisle 2 wickets for 4 runs off 1.3 overs, L. Ambrose 1 wicket for 0 runs off two maiden overs, and J. Lewis 1 for 3. Pylewell B scored just 8 runs off the bat and 10 extras in an innings which lasted less than 10 overs.
