Lymington have not played Andover since the SEC Cup Final at the Rose Bowl in 2001 when they beat them comprehensively. Saturday's win by 9 wickets was even more emphatic.
Roger Miller won the toss for Andover and elected to bat on an excellent Lymington wicket. Lymington's opening attack soon had Andover on the run and it was a repeat story of last week's success against Bashley Rydal as the visitors crumbled to 34 - 4 with both Millers back in the pavilion and Lymington's opening attack of Simon Cook (10-3-20-3) and Morgan Rushbrook (10-3-32-3) dominant. Atkins (33) and Hadfield batted well for the fifth wicket and added on just short of 50 runs, but the only other notable contribution was an unbeaten partnership of 20 for the last wicket by Hadfield (48*) and Turner (8*). At the end of their 50 overs Andover had reached 155-9 with other Lymington bowlers to take wickets were Glyn Treagus (8-2-16-2) and James Lucy (5-0-18-1). One of the highlights of the Andover innings was the brilliant catch in the covers of Saye by Tommy Barton.
After tea Lymington were rarely in trouble although the Andover fielders have only themselves to blame for dropping a number of fairly easy catches. Glyn Treagus (42) and Ollie Kelly put on 71 for the first wicket before Morgan Rushbrook (56*) and Kelly (42*) completed Lymington's victory by 9 wickets with ten overs to spare. The one wicket to fall was taken by Khan (7.2-2-22-1).
