Match Report - First XI - 6 June 09
Southern Electric Premier Cricket League Division 1

Lymington 238 (62.2 overs) Bournemouth 239-7 (57.5 overs)

This match had a truly exciting finish with Bournemouth winning by three wickets with one ball to spare.

In the absence of Christian Pain, away on business, Morgan Rushbrook won the toss for Lymington and elected to bat in windy overcast conditions. Ollie Kelly (8) was dismissed with 15 on the board and Morgan Rushbrook (23) with the score on 49. Thereafter James Lucy (56) and Glyn Treagus (70) had a good stand of 86 to take the score up to 135 when Treagus was the third wicket to fall. Bryn Darbyshire (25) and Simon Cook (35) supported Lucy well but the seventh wicket fell at 230 and the last three wickets only added a further eight runs. Best of the Bournemouth bowlers were S.Ridley (4-49), E.Denham (2-44) and S.Watkins (2-60). Both Glyn Treagus and James Lucy had batted extremely well and responsibly but the same could not be said for the Lymington tail who were still playing the limited overs game.

Bournemouth's reply began in mid afternoon but Simon Cook struck quickly to remove M.House clean bowled for 3 with the total on 10. M.Miller (49) and J.Park (70) played well and all the other Bournemouth batsmen who came in reached double figures. Glyn Treagus again proved his worth as an allrounder taking 2-50 in 19.5 overs which included 5 maidens. The other Lymington bowlers to take wickets were Morgan Rushbrook (2-51) and Simon Cook (2-74).

Although Bournemouth's winning runs only came with one ball to spare, they showed that their knowledge of the longer form of the Time Pennant game was too much for Lymington who can only gain with the experience they will benefit from their first match in this mode.
