NFCCA President's Challenge Trophy. Round 1. Mon 11 May 09. Lymington v Mudeford.

Mudeford 99 - 8 (18 overs) Lymington 101 - 3 (14.4 overs) Lymington won by 7 wkts.

B Banfield won the toss for Mudeford and elected to bat on a bright sunny evening with a strong north easterly wind which was quite cold.

Tommy Barton and Eddie Freeman opened the bowling for Lymington and got a wicket each in the first six overs. After eight overs when the score was 52 for 2 Christian Pain and Adam Darbyshire came into the attack and each took a wicket. After fourteen overs Simon Cook came onto bowl and his two medium pace overs got him two wickets for four runs. During this time Mudeford opening batsman B.Banfield had played well for 36. The only other Mudeford batsman to reach double figures was T.Gadd with 13. After their 18 overs the visitors had reached 99 - 8. Lymington's most successful bowler was Christian Pain with 3-10.

Lymington's reply got off to a shaky start and the home team had lost three wickets, Pain (2), Rushbrook (4) and Grierson (1) before the score had reached 50. However Glyn Treagus steadied the boat and together with Simon Cook (17*) hit off the winning runs in 14.4 overs, finishing on 101-3. At the close Glyn was 63 not out including one 6 and eleven 4s and Lymington were home by seven wickets. The best of the Mudeford bowlers was B.Hayes with 2-22.

In the second round on Monday 1 June Lymington will play the winners of the match between Hythe & Dibden and Langley Manor (Away).
