Match Report - Second XI - 23 May 09
Hampshire Cricket League - County 2

Hythe and Dibden  207 for 9 - Lymington 208 for 3

Lymington welcomed Hythe and Dibden to the sports ground looking to rebound from the previous weeks defeat at Basingstoke. After winning the toss Hythe had no hesitation in batting on what looked like a belter of a wicket. The Lymington opening attack of Chris Noble and Adie Hunt kept the run rate below 3 an over and the breakthrough finally came through Simon Naylor (3-37), after 20 overs Hythe had reached 50 for 2 with Noble's 10 overs costing only 16 runs. M Howe 55 and R Frogett took the attack to Lymington and added 60 runs in good time before Frogett was caught on the boundary for an aggressive 45. Nick Elliott making his 2nd XI debut was introduced into the bowling attack and had an instant impact and ended with fine figures of 4-43 including 3 stumpings for wicketkeeper Ed Molloy as Hythe finished their innings on 207 for 9.

Lymington started their run chase positively through Mark Jackson and Adie Hunt before Hunt was caught for 24 in the 9th over. Jackson was joined by Neil Trestrail and these 2 took the score comfortably to 70 before Trestrail was well caught at slip for 18. Jackson continued to anchor the innings as Dave Griffiths played aggressively before falling for 28 with the score on 95 for 3. This was to be Hythe's last wicket as Jackson in partnership with Simon King guided Lymington to the target with 4 overs and 7 wickets in hand. Jackson ended the innings on 68no and King 64no at better than a run a ball.
