Lymington 188-9 v Goodwood 189-7

Lymington’s season came to end at the Sports Ground with a narrow defeat against Goodwood who were on tour. Playing 40 overs per team Lymington started disastrously by losing three wickets for four runs until Hugo Ambrose 28 and Lee Moors 27 played some very positive shots to recover our situation. However both were dismissed and it was left to aging Peter Tapper 58 to bludgeon the bowling but it was the innings by young Felix Ambrose of 44 not out that caught the eye. Fresh from signing a long term contract to secure his image rights at Lymington Felix played several delightful shots to assist Tapper in establishing a defendable total. The final total of 188 was probably 20 runs short and so it proved as Goodwood’s opening batsman helped himself to a century and they scored the winning runs in the final over.

Overall it has been an excellent season for the Club. The Colts all performed well and provided we can retain some of these lads the future looks good. The 1st X1 mission was survival and they finished third from bottom but won the Presidents Cup and the prestigious SEC 20/20 cup at the Rosebowl. The thirds under the astute captaincy of Lee Moors won their league winning 14 out 15 games. The seconds were a disappointment but they will be targeting promotion next year.
