Lymington were lucky to scrape through to the Quarter Finals of the SE Twenty20 Cup thanks to a narrow 6 run win over Hursley Park. Christian Pain won the toss for the second day running but this time elected to bat. However Lymington'd form deserted them and they struggled through to 121 and were all out off the final ball of the 20th over. The only batsmen to reach double figures were Adie Hunt (24), Simon Cook (19) and both Jim Stevenson and Eddie Freeman reached 15. For Hursley Park the best of the bowlers were Green 6-22, Manning 2-14 and Davies 1-23.
Hursley's reply was well up to the clock and at 104-6 it looked as if they had the tie in their pocket. The Lymington bowlers stuck to their task manfully, and at the completion of their 20 overs the home team had struggled to 115-9. Two brilliant catches by Pain and Treagus paved the way to victory. Best of the Hursley batsmen were Wheeler (32), MacDermott (27) and Davies (17). The Lymington bowlers to take wickets were Christian Pain 3-23, Glyn Treagus 2-22 whilst Simon Cook, Eddie Freeman and Ollie Kelly took one each.
It is hoped that Lymington will be able to put a much stronger team out for the quarter finals on Sunday 12 July which is two days after the final of the New Forest President's Challenge Trophy.
