Karl Whatham faces an anxious wait to see if he's made the Southern Premier League representative side to face Hampshire in one of the two Twenty-20 warm up games next week. The Aussie all rounder was in the Overseas XI (pictured) who lost to an all-English side by 7 wickets on Sunday at Hursley Park. Karl was given little opportunity to shine with the bat, coming in at number 5 with just 5 overs remaining, but his dozen or so runs helped his team reach 145 from their 20 overs. Richard Scott and Lee Savident guided the Englishmen home with 4 balls to spare.
Should Karl be lucky enough to be chosen for the SPL side, the matches will take place on Tuesday 29th June at Bournemouth's Chapelgate ground, and a day later at BAT. Admission will be £5.00.
Also in Karl's team on Sunday was Bashley's Shawn Gillies, while the opposition included ex-Lymingtonians Dan Goldstraw and Damian Shirazi. Gillies and Whatham meet up again at the Sports Ground this Wednesday (23rd June, 6.15pm) for the re-arranged President's Cup semi-final.
